Instrument Covers, Stands and Brackets

Our instrument covers, stands and brackets can be selected from a standard design, or built to customer specific requirements.  Instrumentation covers are used as protection against the elements to extend the life of pressure, level, temperature, flow, analytical instruments and indicators.

Sunshades enable reading of displays in bright or reflective conditions. Pipestands can be made with a plate to allow fixing to the floor or provided with brackets to allow fitting to local structures.

We are able to fabricate a range of solutions in our workshop to compliment the products we supply and enable us to manufacture and supply complete solutions.

Using regional suppliers for our materials to reduce the products carbon footprint, we can also provide traceability certificates from UK or European foundries to ensure the metals quality is as declared.

Our in house welders are trained beyond the standard coding’s available to the tougher ASME IX and BSEN ISO9606-1 coding standards to ensure our products would pass stringent non-destructive testing requirements including 100% x-ray of welds.

  • Single and dual instrument covers
  • Standard and custom made pipestands
  • Through pipe versions for multiple instruments
  • Instrument head mounted versions
  • Material traceability available

Understanding Basic Magnetic Reed Switch Operations for Float Switches

Magnetic Reed Switches and Float SwitchesFloat switches are fundamentally a basic level control product often containing a reed switch to perform the required level control action.  The most confusing part in selecting a float switch is determining the magnetic reed...

Types of Float Switches

Different Types of Float Switch and Their PricesThere are a number of different types of float switches, each with their own advantages and disadvantages.  Most designs can be made to different specifications to suit the ruggedness requirements of an application....

Train level measurement, gauges and indicators

To solve a specific problem with access and the lack of height between a fuel tank and the trains body, AMS have modified the head of our approved level sensors to allow fitting in confined spaces. This development also removed the need for the transmitter to be located in a separate box on the side of the tank and allowed the sensor to be wired directly to the indicators, saving significant additional costs in materials and wiring time.

Train level measurement and control

Advances in the way instrumentation can be powered due to processing capabilities at reduced power levels, combined with the ever-continuing miniaturisation of electronics capability, has created the opportunity for rail companies to consider more modern electronic/digital technology as an alternative to the traditional methods for level measurement.

Refuelling Control Valve and Dry Break Coupling

The Refuelling Control Valve is a float operated servo valve, designed to limit the amount of liquid fed into a tank to a specific level. The coupling prevents fuel leakage when fuelling a locomotive and automatically closes when the fuelling hose coupling is removed.
